This day was a travel day. We had a lot of ground to cover. Originally, we had planned to go back in to Yellowstone for part of this day and arrive late at our hotel but after a nice full day before in Yellowstone, we were content to move on and enjoy a longer evening at our hotel.
I thought this may be a good time to mention what we do to keep busy in the car. Here’s a short list:
- Audiobooks – we listened to a lot of Laura Ingalls Wilder, some Adventures in Odyssey
- Music (CDs)
- Kids watched a few movies until our power adapter petered out
- 30 minute turns on the iPad
- Surprisingly, besides CJ, the kids have barely slept on car rides
Now on to the day’s events:
- Filled up on continental breakfast
- Saw some more moose while loading up the van
- Headed out on I-90 for our loooooong travel day
- Stopped at Perkins for lunch (Hey, we have those in Ohio!)
- EL Facetimed with her friend back home from the van
- Made jokes about the town called Butte
- Crossed through Idaho and celebrated crossing the state line into Washington!
- Drove through mountains, mountains, mountains
- Made to East Spokane & checked in at the Residence Inn (Our hotel of choice)
- Played at Discovery Park that we found through online research
- Came back and ate dinner at the hotel – kids were cranky and rowdy – Mom and Dad questioned whether or not this was a good idea
- Dad and EB ran to Panera across the street to get snacks for later while others got ready for the pool
- Had the hotel pool to ourselves
- Watched a movie, ate our snacks, and went to sleep
